From smelly dishes to sticky floors, we all have had issues with keeping our kitchen clean. Here we have 7 ways that will help keep your kitchen clean. Lets make your day to day cleaning a breeze.
KEEP YOUR GARBAGE CAN OPEN WHILE YOU’RE COOKING.
If you have an empty garbage (or do not have any smelly food in your garbage can), this step is for you. When you cook, I’m sure you would use products that was straight from the can or a box? Have you notice that you have a pile of clutter on your counter because of these boxes and containers? Well, if you do not throw it away, right away, you seem to create a pile of garbage on your counters and floor. This step is easy and will be a breeze. Simply keep the lid for your garbage open, that way when you are done with your food packages you can throw them away quickly. This step will allow you to have less clean up time and more counter space to use while cooking. If you have smelly items in your garbage can then take a grocery store bag and use that as your garbage holder. Once you collected all your trash, throw the whole bag in your original garbage can.
WASH DISHES WHILE YOU ARE COOKING.
My mom taught me this step when I was younger and I hated it, but now I appreciate her words of wisdom. Lets say you are making a dish that requires two pots, a pan, a strainer, some utensils and lids. Simply take the items that you previously used for your dish while you were cooking and clean them off at the sink. The food has not been on the dish long and is easily removable if you clean it right away versus allowing it to sit and harden. Not to mention just the sight of a pile of dishes is depressing. Lets knock out that stress factor by eliminating dishes as you go throughout the day. This will also apply to eating breakfast or lunch. Wash your dish right away after you use it. Never leave dishes in your sink for the morning. The sight and smell alone will drive anyone mad!
WIPE UP SPILLS RIGHT AWAY.
This is the most important step for keeping your kitchen clean. Have you ever spilled something on the counter and didn’t wipe it up right away. Milk, sauce, crumbs. They are all unwanted items for your counters. Not only can it potentially stain your countertops it can take a lot more effort to clean if you leave the stain there to clean later. Now you have a hard crust that’s on your counter and have to use extra force to remove it. Save yourself the trouble and wipe it up with a Clorox wipe or damp paper towel. Your back and elbows thanks you.
SWEEP AFTER YOU FINISH COOKING.
I HAAAATTTEEEE stepping on crumbs and spills while I am in the kitchen. If you spilled something, wipe/sweep it up right away. This effortless step will allow less cleaning when its “Kitchen Day” on your Daily Chores List and will save your socks and house shoes from being destroyed by the end of the day.
HAVE YOUR KITCHEN WELL VENTILATED WITH YOUR RANGE OR HAVING A WINDOW OPEN.
Who wants a smelly kitchen? I know I don’t! If you want to keep your food scent from lingering in your home, turn your range ventilation system on to help pull out that food smell while you’re cooking. If you do not have a ventilation system in your kitchen, then open a window or patio door and allow that smell to air out. Trust me, you will thank me later.
PUT YOUR FOOD IN PLASTIC CONTAINERS AFTER YOU MAKE YOUR PLATE.
This step is a super easy and convenient way of making sure your kitchen stays clean. After you finish making dinner, fix your family’s plate. Place any remaining food into food storage containers right away. This way if your family wants seconds they can take it from the containers and/or you can place it in the fridge for dinner the next day. Rinse your pots and pans out and place them in your dishwasher or wash it in the sink right away. This step helps clear out the heavy duty dirty dishes and your food is put away for the next day.
